Kanye West to Buy Free Speech Social Platform Parler

Ye, or the artist formerly known as Kanye West, has reached an agreement to purchase Parler.

The app describes itself as “the world’s pioneering uncancelable free speech platform” and, following a range of bizarre and ill-considered outbursts from West, it seems the two might make perfect bedfellows.

Parler said that the two parties intend to enter into a definitive purchase agreement and expect to close during the fourth quarter of 2022.

“In a world where conservative opinions are considered to be controversial, we have to make sure we have the right to freely express ourselves,” said Ye.

“This deal will change the world, and change the way the world thinks about free speech,” added George Famer, Parlement Technologies CEO.

“Ye is making a groundbreaking move into the free speech media space and will never have to fear being removed from social media again. Once again, Ye proves that he is one step ahead of the legacy media narrative. Parlement will be honoured to help him achieve his goals.”

Parler also said that Ye will use his “far-reaching talents” to create “a truly non-cancelable [sic] environment.”

The internet, as ever, reacted.

Some have even suggested that African American commentator Candace Owens, who has featured in many of Kanye’s recent stunts, might have something to do with the deal.

Owens has not commented on the acquisition.
