Starcom Loses Snooze Account To Indie Agency Match & Wood

Yesterday B&T reported that Snooze was rumoured to have put its relationship with Starcom to bed, and today, indie agency Match & Wood has announced it has bedded Snooze.

Match & Wood has been appointed by leading Australian bedding brand, Snooze, for media strategy, planning and buying, following a three-month competitive pitch.

Match & Wood will manage all paid media (excluding search) and take over the account from incumbent Starcom, which held the business for several years.

Snooze has operated in Australia for over 40 years with 80 locations across the country through a strong franchise network that supports local communities and suppliers, in addition to Australian-made mattress and furniture companies.

Doni Davies, general manager of marketing at Snooze, said: “Match & Wood’s experience and detailed strategic media approach were the right fit for Snooze.

“We were looking for an agency that would work as an extension of our dedicated team, and the more time we spent together, it was clear that they believed in the same things as we did, which we feel sets a solid foundation for the future.

“There is a strong cultural fit, and we look forward to partnering with them to achieve our ambitious growth plans for the business.”

With offices in Melbourne and Perth, Match & Wood is one of Australia’s fastest-growing independent media agencies.

In February it was appointed by Chobani Australia for the Chobani and Gippsland Dairy brands. Headcount has doubled in recent years to service its expanding client roster which also includes Curtin University, Speedo, HIF Australia, NOW Finance, Private Healthcare Australia, and Synergy.

Chris O’Keefe, chief operating officer at Match & Wood, added: “Snooze is a major Australian retailer and a brand synonymous for delivering quality bedding and bedroom products. We are delighted to have been appointed after a competitive pitch, which recognises the expertise we have across media strategy, planning and buying.

“This is a significant milestone in Match & Wood’s history and a testament to the depth of specialist talent we have in the agency.”

Match & Wood’s appointment came into effect on 14 October.
