Today host Karl Stefanovic unleashed on Russian tennis star Daniil Medvedev after he called the Australian Tennis Open crowd, “low I.Q”
Stefanovic isn’t exactly known for holding back in Ubers or on-air. So this morning he made it very clear he had a bone to pick with Medvedev.
According to news.com.au, Stefanovic said: “Daniil Medvedev, my accountant has a better personality.
“Daniil Medvedev, he makes Ivan Lendl look like Beyonce. Daniil Medvedev, Terminator 4 had more facial expressions.”
Stefanovic also added: “Insulting the fans like that – they weren’t actually booing him. He misunderstood what was happening.”
Stefanovic is responding to Medvedev’s comments after he beat Nick Kyrgios in the fourth round. The crowd was particularly enthusiastic that night and there was plenty of cheering and booing.
Let’s face it the crowd was clearly rooting for Kyrgios and Medvedev managed to hold his nerve.
Afterwards, Medvedev’s told Eurosport, “It’s just a little disappointing when they are making so much noise between first and second serve. I guess some people just have a low IQ.”
Naturally, Twitter erupted over it.
Good on Medvedev for telling the crowd to pull their heads in #AusOpen

If you just came across Medvedev on the street and didn’t know he was the No. 2 tennis player in the world you would absolutely swear he worked in IT. #AusOpen

Medvedev is hilarious. Just ignores the crowd booing him and calls them out. Loved the way he played. Just took care of business. Laser focus and methodical. Impressive, you have to respect it. #AusOpen

And while Twitter seemed to be on the Russian tennis player’s side. Clearly, Stefanovic didn’t agree.
Of course, Stefanovic does take his Aussie Tennis very seriously which makes sense because The Australian Open is Nine’s pride and joy.
