B&T’s Tokyo Olympics Wrap: Your Daily Dose Of Blunders, Accidents & Romance!
The Tokyo Olympics is now in full swing. This means there is some athletic greatness paired alongside mishaps and frankly good old fashioned drama.
Case in point, former United States President Donald Trump can always be relied on to bring the drama.
The Olympics aims to steer clear of politics and instead focus on morale and excellence. However, Trump made headlines for celebrating the loss of the US women’s soccer team against Sweden. (Yes, his soccer team.)
News.com.au reported that Trump said: “Woke politics takes the life and joy out of everything.
“Wokeism makes you lose, ruins your mind and ruins you as a person. You become warped. You become demented.
“The US women’s soccer team is a very good example of what’s going on. Earlier this week, they unexpectedly lost to Sweden, three to nothing.”
His rant was then met with applause by his fans and fellow Americans. Unfortunately, they all seemed to have missed the point of the Olympics, which is to barrack for your own country.
Meanwhile, Chinese officials have slammed western publications for photos published of weightlifter Hou Zhihui.
The photos that have angered Chinese officials, feature Zhihui pulling a strained face while lifting, assumedly, a very heavy weight.
However, the Chinese Embassy in Sir Lanka took to Twitter to express their distaste for the photos, published by Reuters.

Reuters was also called out by China’s The Global Times – who accused it of targeting China.
If that wasn’t exciting enough, in a heartwarming moment, Argentine Fencer Maria Belen Perez Maurice was proposed to live at the Olympics by her coach, Lucas Saucedo.
According To The Daily Telegraph, Saucedo said: “Tell me, yes, a lot of people are looking at us.”
Thankfully she said yes!
Still, if you think nothing is more thrilling than watching true love you’d be sorely mistaken. Dutch BMX rider, Niek Kimmann accidentally colliding with an Olympic official, is sure to get your heart rate up.
Again, thankfully, everyone is okay.
Kimmann even took to Twitter to share the footage.
So this is what happened today. 💣 Hit an official that wanted to cross the 2nd straight. Hope the official is O.K. My knee is sore, but will do my best to be ready for Thursday! Thanks everyone for the messages, appreciate it! ❤️ pic.twitter.com/QOdJ2r0usT

Still, there might be nothing more endearing than hearing British cyclist, Tom Pidock after winning gold call the Olympics: “Fucking stressful.”
However, the prize for the most awkward moment goes to Norwegian triathlon olympian Kristian Blummenfelt, whose moment of winning gold may have been overshadowed by the fact his suit went see-through – around his crutch area.
Naturally, Twitter weighed in.
If you want a visual representation of what it looks like to give your absolute everything and leave nothing on the course, Kristian Blummenfelt has done just that! #Tokyo2020
Incredible racing from all three podium athletes https://t.co/cv9v3y4pXA— Meg Withers (@Withers_Meg) July 25, 2021
Are these triathlon outfits designed like this or is he wearing a wet, white running onesie over a black speedo? It is A LOOK. 😂

All in all the Olympics seems to be required viewing, and not just for sports fans for anyone that likes a bit of entertainment.
