TV Ratings (17/04/2024): Contestants Faced With Harsh Realities As Alone Australia Heats Up (Or Cools Down)

It was a huge night on Alone Australia with contestants realising just how difficult acquiring food and living in true isolation is.

The series once again did the numbers for SBS, as participants were pushed to their limits in the freezing wilderness of New Zealand, achieving an improved total TV national reach of 586,000 and an average audience of 305,000. The program was SBS’ most-watched program yesterday.

Over on Ten, I’m A Celeb… did the hard work, achieving a total national reach of 1,278,000. Emotions were high as Sandra Sully broadcast into the Jungle from the 10 News First desk, bringing the campmates news from their loved ones. Then an emotional goodbye left many heartbroken.

Stephen K Amos received the lowest public votes in last night’s episode and was booted out of the jungle. Reflecting on his time, Amos said he has learnt a lot about himself.  “Do you know what, the hardest thing I found was not having an audience to perform to for just me. And to allow myself just to be myself. And not to be the funny guy 24/7. It is irritating,” he joked to Julia Morris and Robert Irwin.

“I have learnt patience, solace. I have learnt how to live without any mobile phone. The rat race … I have taught myself it is always important now, whoever you are, whatever you are doing in your life, to take some time out for yourself. A couple of days a week to recharge, refocus, reenergize and move on”.

It was The Chase Australia that took the number one non-news spot last night, with the Seven programs receiving a total TV national reach of 1,335,000.
