Seven Reporter Denies Being Suspended After Stuffing Up Expensive Adele Interview

Seven’s Matt Doran has found himself in hot water after he failed to listen to Adele’s new album before interviewing the pop icon.

The Daily Telegraph has reported that Doran was flown to The United Kingdom on behalf of Seven to interview Adele. The interview was an exclusive for the network (aka a big deal!)

However, he failed to ask any questions about her highly anticipated album 30. Which was a little bit odd, considering Adele was doing press for her new album.

According to The Daily Telegraph, Adele asked him, after the interview, what he thought of the album and he replied with this clanger, “I haven’t listened to it,” which naturally may have offended Adele.

Her record label Sony is now refusing to release the interview.

Rumours are rife that Doran was suspended over the incident but this has been denied by Doran.

Doran told The Australian, “When I sat down to interview Adele, I was totally unaware that I’d been emailed a preview of her unreleased album.

“I have since discovered it was sent to me as an ‘e card’ link, which I somehow missed upon landing in London. It was an oversight but NOT a deliberate snub. This is the most important email I have ever missed.”

Doran also confirmed reports Sony has refused to release the interview. However, The Australian reported that Doran said he was not formally “suspended.”

Still, upon returning from London, he was absent from Sunrise for one weekend,

The oversight was of course compounded by the fact that the interview was part of a package that included an interview and the rights to Oprah Winfrey’s Adele special, which news.com.au reports cost around $1 million.

Of course, the story is now going viral on Twitter, with plenty of people weighing in on the saga!

At the very least, you have to give Doran points for being honest!
