Comedy Troupe The Chaser Rebrand NAB To NOB & Says It’s “Looking Forward To Getting Sued”

Comedy Troupe The Chaser Rebrand NAB To NOB & Says It’s “Looking Forward To Getting Sued”

Satirical comedy group The Chaser has teamed up with advocacy group Market Forces, to rename NAB To NOB and accuse the bank of ‘greenwashing’.

The Chaser has launched a campaign against NAB which includes some pretty big accusations  – including supporting the fossil fuel industry while pretending to care about the environment.

While The Chaser is known for making fun of big businesses and people in power, clearly the campaign is designed not just to make people laugh, but to question if NAB is ethical.

The Chaser’s partner in this campaign, Market Forces, reposted one of the videos on Twitter and accused NAB of publically supporting the Paris agreement but privately loaning billions of dollars to companies expanding fossil fuels.

The Chaser and Market Forces have created ads where they call out NAB for allegedly pretending to be sustainable, while financially backing the fossil fuel industry.

The names of these ads, do not beat around the bush and include, “Pretending we’re climate-friendly” and “We’re slowing the transition to a low-carbon economy.”

The Chaser has also revamped NAB’s Slogan “More than Money” and added, “We are also destroying the planet.”

NAB caught The Chaser’s attention after Nab temporarily changed its name to Jab in an effort to encourage Australian’s to get their COVID-19 vaccinations.  The Chaser was clearly inspired by NAB’s name change and took to social media to rebrand the bank to NOB.

According to The Chaser:

  • NAB loaned $2 for every $1 it loaned in renewable energy in 2020.
  • NAB spearheaded a $500 million loan to the world’s largest coal port
  • NAB has loaned billions of dollars to the fossil fuel industry since 2016

NAB has yet to respond.
