It’s Official: Paramount+ Set To Launch In Australia In August

Australians will soon have another SVOD service to watch, after ViacomCBS Australia & New Zealand announced Paramount+ will be launching later this year.

Paramount+ will be available from August 11 and will be priced at $8.99 a month – which will make it slightly cheaper than both Netflix and Stan.

The new service will feature content from SHOWTIME®, BET, CBS, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, Paramount Pictures, the Smithsonian Channel and Sony Pictures Television, as well as a selection of local content.

ViacomCBS last year announced 10 All Access would be rebranding to Paramount+, with ViacomCBS executive vice president and chief content officer Beverley McGarvey saying: “the rebrand of 10 All Access to Paramount+ confirms its place in ViacomCBS’ global streaming network which will carry iconic ViacomCBS library content.”

The Australian launch of Paramount+ comes as the media conglomerate looks to bolster its SVOD offering in an effort to compete with the likes of Netflix.

Last month it was revealed ViacomCBS was looking to raise more than $US3 billion from stock offerings to fund the operations and investments associated with Paramount+.

Paramount+ recently hit 36 million subscribers globally.
