Australian YouTube prankster Willem Powerfish faces seven years imprisonment or a maximum fine of $1 million for a stunt that saw him sink a car and boat trailer into a river.

The Gold Coast-based man told 9News that he plans to change the way he does business after pleading guilty to the stunt, which was shared on his YouTube page in late 2019.

In the video, Powerfish, whose real name is William Ungermann, allegedly shows himself reversing a Ford Falcon off the Fingal Road boat ramp into the Tweed River in northern NSW.

According to 9News, he now faces a maximum fine of up to $1 million or a maximum sentence of seven years in jail after reportedly being charged with negligently disposing of waste causing environmental harm.

“It’s pretty scary but obviously I’m the one that did it and I’ve got to suffer the consequences,” Ungermann told 9News. “I’m going to learn from this mistake, but all I’ve ever wanted to do is make people laugh, get the dogs and push mental health.”
