Reports: Apple Seeks To Cut Costs To Keep iPhone Prices Down

On Monday we brought you the news of how a rogue test link for a live stream had given Apple fans a major clue about the launch of the newest iPhone.

With the new iPhone set to hit the shelves in the next few months, today we bring you more news about what Apple’s latest creation might look like.

Known for its steep prices, Apple has been trying to change this perception in recent month, launching a ‘budget‘ iPhone SE earlier this year.

And it appears as though this trend might continue with the next launch.

MacRumours is reporting Apple will cut costs on the upcoming iPhone 12 by including a simpler and smaller battery with the device.

According to the reports, Apple needs to find savings somewhere, as the new device will include (expensive) 5G technology for the first time.

“Adoption of Sub-6GHz 5G technology will increase Apple’s costs by $75–$85, while millimeter wave technology will incur a $125–$135 cost for Apple, so the company is cutting costs on other components wherever it can,” MacRumours said, citing TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
