Spark Foundry today announced its appointment to handle the media strategy, planning and buying account for Ancestry in Australia and New Zealand following a competitive pitch.

Ancestry hosts the world’s largest online collection of family history records to help people discover their ancestors. The company also offers a consumer DNA kit service that helps expand users’ genealogy research and connect them with ‘DNA matches’.

The appointment is effective immediately, with the account being handled out of Spark Foundry’s Sydney office.

Ancestry ANZ Country Manager, Nigel Seeto, said: “Following a collaborative and robust pitch process, we’re pleased to announce Spark Foundry as our new media agency. The team showed a deep understanding of our business and our customers, and we look forward to working together to put our media strategy into action.

“We’d also like to thank our previous media agency, OMD, for their work in helping to build the Ancestry business in Australia and New Zealand over the past several years.”

Spark Foundry Australia COO, Matthew Turl, said: “We’re excited to work with Ancestry to drive further growth across its Australian and New Zealand operations, helping people gain a new level of understanding about their lives by discovering their family history.”

Imogen Hewitt, Spark Foundry Australia CEO added: “It’s great to kick the year off announcing our new working relationship with an ambitious and market-leading brand such as Ancestry. Congratulations to our Sydney team for all their hard work securing the account.”
