Sunday TV Wrap: DWTS Off-Beat Premiere As 593K Tune In, Down 4.5% On Last Year

10’s Dancing With The Stars premiere attracted just 593,000 metro viewers on Sunday night, which is down -4.5 per cent from 621,000 last year.

The reality dance show attracted a 45.7 per cent smaller audience compared to Nine’s MAFS, which went over the million mark to 1.09m last night, according to OzTAM metro numbers.

However, it still garnered a 23 per cent bigger audience than MKR, which attracted 476,000 metro viewers.

Network 10 chief content officer, Beverley McGarvey, said: “The first episode of the new season of Dancing With The Stars was great family entertainment and we are very happy with the audience numbers last night and the year on year timeslot growth it achieved.

“Our fantastic celebrities, wonderful hosts and judges did a brilliant job. Craig will be back on the judging panel next week for our first elimination. This series has only just kicked off and the best is absolutely still to come.”

DWTS launch audience was up 14 per cent on the 2019 DWTS season average.

Meanwhile, ABC’s biggest show for the night – Grand Designs – pulled 599,000 metro viewers.

Nine

News did 959,000, 60 Minutes did 688,000 and Weinstein: Hollywood’s Reckoning did 366,000.

10

Sunday Project did 378,000 and The Graham Norton Show (encore) did 299,000.

Seven 

News did 1.083m, Bushfire Bash special Ponting XI V Gilchrist XI did 576,000, Weekend Sunrise did well on 316,000, Border Security (repeat) did 261,000, Cricket T20 AUS v ENG Women’s session did 202,000, while a showing of The Greatest Showman did 228,000.

ABC

Over on ABC, news did 750,000, Midsomer Murders did 572,000 and Insiders did 291,000.

All channels share

Nine won the night across all channels with 32.1 per cent share. Seven came in second spot with 24.8 per cent, while ABC followed on 18.9 per cent. 10 came after on 18.3 per cent, while SBS did 5.9 per cent.

Primary channel share

Nine won primary channel share with 23.9 per cent, Seven followed on 16.8 per cent, ABC came in third with 14.5 per cent, 10 did 12.7 per cent and SBS did 3.8 per cent.
