Explore The World’s Largest Digital Photograph

Photographer Jeffrey Martin has successfully created the world’s largest photo. Taken of the city of Tokyo over the course of two days, the work is panoramic and measures a staggering 600,000 pixels. Access online allows you to zoom and explore the entire canvas. Philosophically too, the work literally allows the viewer to see and explore much more than our own senses could ever process.

The Japanese Have Sent A Talking Robot to Space

In another first, Japanese scientists have created and deployed a small humanoid-like talking robot called Kirobo to the International Space Station. The mission for this little guy is to act as an intermediary between the stationed astronaut and home base. The theory is Kirobo’s presence will stem some of the loneliness and isolation experienced by orbiting space personnel. Kirobo also looks a little like Astro Boy. Check it out here

For those looking for ways to behave greener at home, then Living Lights from the boffins at Electrolux will surely do the trick.  Living Lights is a system designed around a self-sustaining hanging plant ecosystem that generates its own power, yep an ‘earth battery’.   The Future is certainly looking a little brighter with thinking like this.

Human Electro

Leap Motion is a new technology device that enables the operator to control sounds, music, atmospherics and shapes on any connected device via gesture. Think a highly sophisticated and miniaturised Kinect.  In this particular application Ryo Fujimoto a Japanese Beatboxer and Electronic Musician is able to control the pitch and other synthesized sounds, which are accompany his beatboxing.  We can’t wait to see this kind of gear making its way into live performances. An Interactive Video From adidas Featuring Run-DMC

Building on the adidas Originals Unite campaign platform, Adidas have once again teamed up with Hip Hop royalty Run-DMC and DJ wunderkind A-Trak to present a new track and interactive video.  The interactive video is great fun and allows the viewer to voice command via their PC microphone or type in commands via their keyboard to trigger a whole universe of special effects.
