More Strife For Fallen TV Star Andrew O’Keefe As He Allegedly Fails Drug Test While On Parole

Seven’s former game show king, Andrew O’Keefe, has dodged having his bail revoked after allegedly failing a drug test.

Yesterday he was arrested in Sydney’s eastern suburbs and dragged back to court because he allegedly failed a drug test. The ABC has reported that the court was told he had tested positive for cocaine and methylamphetamine.

O’Keefe was granted bail in May and was sent to complete a drug and alcohol programme in rehab. He spent six months there and has only recently moved back to his house in Vaucluse.

O’Keefe’s bail conditions are fairly strict; he must finish his rehab stint and cannot partake in illegal drugs or alcohol.

O’Keefe’s barrister Sebastian De Brennan successfully argued before the judge that the test could have been contaminated.

ABC reported that Magistrate Jacqueline Milledge said: “I accept Mr O’Keefe has undergone the rehabilitation, that he is committed to doing something about his addiction.”

However, she advised O’Keefe to be careful and said: “you just can’t afford another knock like this.”

O’Keefe agreed and said: “I agree your honour!”

O’Keefe’s bail was not revoked.

O’Keefe was then spotted outside of court and Sydney Morning Herald reported that he spoke to the press and said: “That’s what we discovered in court today, that there’s a high probability of contamination.”

O’Keefe also complained about the Australian legal system and said: “The thing about the justice system is that we get no time to prepare as the defendant.

“And you’re at a distinct disadvantage about getting the facts to even your own people.”
