Deliveroo Australia Announces Ed McManus As New CEO

Deliveroo Australia has announced EdMcManus as its new CEO.

Ed McManus (featured image) has extensive experience in senior leadership positions at companies within complex and fast-growing sectors.

He has been CEO at both Meridian Energy and Powershop Australia since January 2016.

Before then, he was general manager at Powershop Australia and prior to that held leadership roles at REA Group and GlaxoSmithKline.

Earlier this year in July, Deliveroo announced that Greg Ellis would join the company as a senior adviser to Deliveroo Australia.

Ellis will now stay on in an advisory capacity, meaning Deliveroo has a leadership team with huge knowledge of successfully scaling businesses in Australia.

Deliveroo has built a high-calibre and experienced leadership team to see the company through its next phase of rapid growth, this year also announcing the appointments of Laura Huddle, formerly at Eventbrite, as commercial director; Jeremy Brook, formerly at Google, as head of marketing; and Joanne Woo, formerly at GE, as head of corporate affairs.

Australia is one of Deliveroo’s key markets globally, and there is strong ambition to continue its rapid expansion in the market.

The company currently works with 11,000 restaurants across 13 Australian cities, with 8,000 riders and reaches 11 million Australians.

By the end of the year, the company plans to extend this to 10,000 riders and 17,000  restaurants.

McManus’s immediate priorities in the role will include increasing restaurant selection on the platform, to offer consumers the widest choice of all food delivery operators in the country; to continue to improve operations, to offer the most reliable delivery service; and to be the partner of choice for restaurants and riders alike, offering work and support tailored to their needs and best interests.

McManus commented: “I am delighted to take on this exciting challenge.

“I’m passionate about food and passionate about growing companies that are built on innovation and breaking new ground. Deliveroo combines both.

“The scale of the opportunity ahead is huge and one the whole team is looking forward to taking on.

“Deliveroo wants to become the definitive food company and so we will make sure we cater for every food occasion and bring people the amazing food they want, whenever and wherever they want it.”
