Kyle Sandilands gazumped Nine and announced Grimshaw’s successor days before it was formally announced – wild!
The industry’s worst-kept secret was exposed on Sunday night when Nine finally announced Allison Langdon would be taking over from Grimshaw on A Current Affair.
The news didn’t surprise many people, though; why? Well, because Sandilands announced Langdon was the successor last Thursday on his hit radio show.
When interviewing Grimshaw on his KIIS radio show, Sandilands said: “Let me tell everyone it is Ally! I don’t mean to bust Channel 9’s bubble.”
Sandilands claimed he got the scoop from Karl Stefanovic, who turned to Sandilands for advice on replacing Langon on The Today Show. Sadly, the conversation didn’t happen in an Uber and didn’t get taped and leaked.
Nine declined to comment but finally admitted the exciting news on Sunday night. Does this mean Sandilands is now a hard-hitting journalist? What a twist!
