Former Dentsu Exec Kym Pfitzner Joins Six O’Clock Advisory As Chairman

Australian-owned strategic communication firm Six O’Clock Advisory has announced the appointment of Kym Pfitzner as chairman.

The 25-year media and marketing veteran will take up the non-executive post at the company from 14 January 2019.

Pfitzner joins Six O’Clock Advisory as a highly-regarded adviser and director who has held senior leadership roles in the Asia Pacific for global media and advertising entities, most recently Dentsu Aegis Network (DAN).

From 2003 to 2010, Pfitzner was the regional chief financial officer of Aegis Media Asia Pacific – the forerunner to DAN.

He was the Asia Pacific CEO of global outdoor advertising agency Posterscope from 2007 to 2009 and, and headed DAN’s M&A team across the Asia Pacific from 2003 to 2015.

Six O’Clock Advisory director and CEO Siobhan Koopmans said the firm was thrilled to have attracted Pfitzner to the role of chairman.

“Approaching three years in business in the Australian market, and having enjoyed a sustained period of growth, the appointment of an experienced and credentialled non-executive chair is a natural evolution of the business as we look to take things to the next level,” she said.

“After a wide search, Jim [Stiliadis[, Patrick [O’Beirne[ and I found ourselves gravitating towards someone we’d crossed paths with before.

“Kym shares similar personal and professional values and is a highly-respected, clear-thinking and connected industry leader.”

Pfitzner said he was excited to join Six O’Clock Advisory and help the firm navigate its next period of growth.

“I’ve been following Six O’Clock Advisory’s success over recent years and it’s a tremendous opportunity to be coming into a firm that is very much on the rise,” he said.

“Siobhan, Jim and Pat are specialists in their field, and they’ve assembled an impressive team which is working with a range of top-tier clients across the private and public sectors.

“I’m looking forward to bringing my experience and leadership to the table to drive even more opportunity for the firm, taking into account the ever-changing media-communication landscape and inevitable technology advancements.”

Koopmans said Pfitzner’s arrival marked an exciting period for the firm.

“We’ve welcomed a number of new starters, relocated to new Melbourne headquarters and attracted a raft of key clients. Kym’s arrival will ensure we take this momentum into the new year,” she said.
