Cool Or Crass? Here’s Some Of The Weirder Brand Tributes To The Queen’s Passing

The Queen has sadly passed and everyone appears in a deep state of shock for the loss for the planet’s second favourite grandmother (your own aside).

As expected, brand’s quickly jumped on the sympathy bandwagon, using their social media platforms to roll out tributes that ranged from class to, dare we say it, crass.

Here, B&T’s done a round-up of some of the less worst ones and some of the more bizarre.

Our very own oOh!media here in Australia used its digital out of home to prompt effect over the weekend with a simple tribute that beamed from a number of its bus shelters.

A “try harder” has to go to Brit Dale Vince, the founder of the UK electricity company Ecotricity and chairman of Forest Green Rovers Football Club, who tweeted an image of the Queen in one of his football shirts alongside the tribute “Thanks Liz”.

Vince’s tweet copped a lot of flak in the UK, to which he responded that he’d met Her Majesty while collecting his OBE. “She was wearing a green dress and we talked about green energy and stuff,” he said. “It was a funny experience, and she had a good sense of humour – unlike some here.”

Crazy Frog got in on the tributes with this simple, but odd, post:

One of B&T’s favourite’s came from the British Kebab Awards (yes, that’s apparently a thing) who posted this meaty tribute:

UK sports publisher Clutch Points soon realised the error of its ways and deleted its odd tribute after being mercilessly mocked by followers.

Sadly, Domino’s Pizza’s (see below) homage didn’t go down too well with fellow social media users who joked: “Now that Domino’s has weighed in we can heal. In 30 minutes or less!” While another added: “So, for a limited time, you can get our late-monarch meal deal for just £9.99!”

Not so much brands, but India’s foremost sand artists, Sudarsan Pattnaik and Manas Sahoo, crafted their tribute to Her Maj at Puri Beach in the state of Odisha in India.

The UK’s iconic lingerie and sex toy retailer, Ann Summers, paid its condolences with a simple tribute and an image from Her Majesty’s earlier life.

Legoland – a place made entirely out of Lego – posted its tribute with its very own Lego Queen:

London’s West End paid its tribute with messages from two current stage plays Hamilton and Les Miserables.

Shrek’s Adventure – which is apparently a Shrek-inspired kids theme park in London – got in on the condolences, too:

While pizza chain Pizza Express shed a tear with the below:

While keen-eyed tweeters noticed that bakery chain Greggs had teamed its image of the Queen with the company’s official logo colour:

Stationery retailer Funky Pigeon played it straight with its tribute:

Not that she was arguably a fan, Formula One paid its respects:

Even the Ohio State University Marching Band got in on the action:

Lastly, COVID pharmaceutical firm AstraZeneca paid its respects after what’s definitely been a busy couple of years for them:
