Uber does pizza on demand

Controversial ride share service Uber will be put to good use by MELT Pizza, which will use the App to deliver pizzas.

The on-demand service will allow new Melbourne pizzeria MELT to deliver its pizzas, free of charge.

This will be the first business to use UberX for commercial purposes.

Google-backed Uber recently launched UberX in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane as a lower-cost alternative to booking taxis.

However, the legality of the service is being questioned by state governments and the taxi services commission.

MELT founders noticied that cheap pizza in Australia was bad, but good pizza was often too slow and expensive. From this conundrum the MELT ethos was born.

“Our pizza is very traditional but there’s nothing traditional about how we run Australia’s most innovative pizza joint,” said Dan Gold, MELT’s owner and pizza maker.

By partnering with UberX, they can deliver their pizzas in a cost-effective manner and provide customers with convenience as well as quality.

“You often visit a pizza place and see the delivery guy just sitting around waiting for the next order. Someone is paying for that. This won’t happen at MELT Pizza, and by using Uber the savings and better taste are being passed on to our customers,” Gold said.
