Charles Rallings departure prompts DDB restructure

DDB Group Sydney has again announced a management restructure, this time with a focus on bolstering the agency’s digital and technology capabilities.

The restructure has been prompted by the departure of chief operating officer and Tribal managing director Charles Rallings who has joined Creata as vice president, digital.

Chris Brown, chief executive officer of DDB Group Australia, wished Rallings, who he credited with placing “digital thinking at the heart of our business”, luck at Creata.

Rallings’ replacement will be announced in coming weeks with Brown signaling a “focus on moving the discussions more upstream with CMO’s and CIO’s around business transformation through digital technology”.

As a result, Matt Melik, who has been with the agency for more than four years, has been promoted to managing partner.

DDB Sydney has also recruited Digital Arts Network’s GM Cecile Ferre (pictured) as digital director on the agency’s Telstra business.

“This is both an exciting and pivotal time in the development of the DDB Group offering. We have already had amazing successes this year with McDonald’s TrackMyMaccas mobile app and the Tim Tams ‘Love More’ Campaign,” Brown said.

“We also want to increase our investment, diversify further our skill set and compliment some great talent we already have in the business.

“The DDB Group currently hosts outstanding talent and thought leaders in the digital and innovation space and we intend to build upon this.  My focus is to ensure technology, creativity and data led thinking infuses our business and we have the right people and ways of working that allows this to happen.”

The re-structure will prompt further hires and promotions which will be announced over the next few weeks.

This re-structure comes after the Group's shift to create a single national brand in November last year.
