Sam Kekovich launches 'Australia Day II'

Sam Kekovich has thrown his weight behind a new campaign from Tourism Queensland, encouraging Australians to get back up to the sunshine state post floods.

The spot plays on Kekovich's work as an Australia Day  'Lambassador' for Meat and Livestock Australia, the ex-footy star boldly announcing he is creating "a second Australia Day" on February 23.

This new date, he says, is a chance for Queenslanders to throw their lamb chops on the barbie after the official Australia Day was washed out. 

Queensland Tourism said: "After the devastation of Tropical Cyclone Oswald, Queensland is now open for business and ready to celebrate the Australia Day we never had. We're calling it Australia Day II and everyone in Australia is invited."
