OMD Australia has raised $40,145 for charity Leukaemia Foundation by hosting World’s Greatest Shave fundraising events in Brisbane and Melbourne with OMDers stepping up to shave, cut or colour their hair.

Leukaemia Foundation appointed OMD Brisbane as their media agency in November 2022, quickly forging a strong partnership to launch the World’s Greatest Shave 25th anniversary campaign. World’s Greatest Shave is one of Australia’s longest running and most well-loved fundraisers, with the funds raised enabling Leukaemia Foundation to provide critical support to the 135,000 Australians facing blood cancer today, empowering families impacted by blood cancer and accelerating vital research.

Now in its 25th year, World’s Greatest Shave has seen more than two million people either shave, cut or colour their hair or donate to someone who has. With the help of OMD’s media partners across Brisbane and Melbourne, the events provided a fun and engaging way to reach the agency’s fundraising target while cheering on OMDers braving the shave.

Partners supported the cause with attendance, sponsorship and incredible raffle prizes to boost the fundraising. The events were brought to life by OMD’s social responsibility committee, OMDonate. The committee seeks out opportunities for the agency to give back to the community through fundraising, allyship, education and participation.

Kenny Stewart, group managing director – OMD Victoria and Queensland, said; “It’s always great for our agency and valued media partners to come together and embrace a wonderful cause. We had a lot of fun and I’d like to recognise the considerable efforts of our participants and their impressive fundraising efforts to help fight blood cancer. OMD is very proud to partner with Leukaemia Foundation and support their important work.”

Nathan Fraser, head of group – OMD Brisbane, added; “I’m incredibly proud of the support shown by the OMD team in running our events across Brisbane and Melbourne. Importantly, I’m proud of everyone who joined me in taking part in the 25th anniversary of World’s Greatest Shave. As a team and with the support of our friends, families and partners we’ve raised an incredible amount that will make a great contribution to the amazing work of the Leukaemia Foundation. Bring on 2024!”

Chris Tanti, CEO of Leukemia Foundation, said; “We are thrilled to partner with OMD for one of our most loved and important campaigns of the year, the World’s Greatest Shave. The partnership has already been both rewarding and successful through not only strong campaign development and execution, but also OMD’s passion to rally together for Australians impacted by blood cancer. We’re beyond grateful for the support they’ve provided and their impressive fundraising efforts for World’s Greatest Shave 2023. We look forward to continuing to partner together moving forward.”
