LISTNR Launches Mysterious Whodunnit Podcast About Missing Teenage Girl

LISTNR Launches Mysterious Whodunnit Podcast About Missing Teenage Girl

A teenage girl leaves her boyfriend’s house, and is never seen again… ever.

She could be your daughter, your sister, your best friend. It could happen in your street.

The story of Lizzie Burdett’s mysterious disappearance, and the secrets of those in the community around her, is baffling. It’s also the subject of a new six-part LiSTNR original audio drama podcast series called You Don’t Know Me.

Adapted from a novel by award-winning Australian crime writer Sara Foster, You Don’t Know Me is a dark and brooding fictional podcast series set in Sydney’s Northern Beaches, with unseen twists as each episode focuses on a different potential suspect that allows the listener to immerse themselves as an ‘armchair detective’.

It’s Big Little Lies meets Agatha Christie, and family drama meets crime-thriller, in a compelling all-new immersive audio-storytelling format. True crime fans, conspiracy theorists and whodunnit chasers will love how each episode reveals new evidence, backstories and motives in this thrilling, edge-of-your-seat series that will take over water cooler chatter, listening clubs and WhatsApp groups across the country.

If Glass Onion reimagined whodunnit movies, then You Don’t Know Me will revolutionise the audio genre.

Here’s what we know: Lizzie leaves her boyfriend’s house and is never seen again. Her boyfriend, Tom Caruso, fled town soon after her disappearance. No charges were laid, and the case went cold. Eight years later, Lizzie’s family demands Tom returns for a coroner’s inquest that is being held to find answers to her disappearance, because someone knows something… someone always knows something.

Author Sara Foster said: “You Don’t Know Me is a fabulous series, packed with exciting twists and turns. I loved hearing the characters come to life, and the story has been brilliantly reworked for crime drama podcast fans.”

LiSTNR Original Podcasts Head of Factual and Drama, Jennifer Goggin, said of You Don’t Know Me: “This immersive crime-drama audio series is an exciting step for LiSTNR into the next frontier of audio-entertainment. You Don’t Know Me was produced in-house by the LiSTNR Factual and Drama unit over six months. Every task, from the adaptation of the story, to the dialogue in the scripts, to the sound design and original music composition, was specifically chosen to create a crime-thriller that had an audio-first approach to its storytelling, and would bring listeners deeper and deeper into the mystery with each new episode.

“The series is mysterious, engaging and intriguing and invites the listener to speculate about each character, and to search for clues for what happened to Lizzie Burdett in each episode. A classic whodunnit, but for the digital-audio age.”

The first four episodes are live NOW on LiSTNR, with new episodes dropping every Wednesday. You Don’t Know Me is a co-production with Bryden Media.
