Industry Slugfest Pitch2Punch Raises $20K For Mental Health In Final Outing

Last Friday, 600 black tie guests cheered on 19 industry champions as they stepped into the ring at the Royal Randwick Ballroom, to support positive mental health.

During 10 bouts of action featuring the pugilistic excellence of our industry stars, a charity auction and raffle – featuring items donated from across our industry – helped raise over $20,000 to help support our nation’s youth.

Nic Brown, CEO of Batyr and 2022 Pitch2Punch Industry Champion said: “These funds will help us support hundreds of young people at such an important time. We’re really grateful to everyone involved in making the event happen and a special shout out to all those who pushed themselves mentally and physically to turn up on the night and get in the ring.”

The same sentiment was echoed by Pitch2Punch floor manager and 2017 industry champion Kate Holland who added: “It’s great to be part of something that celebrates individual performance in a team environment, and does so much good for so many.”

But is this really the last Pitch2Punch? Event creator and organiser Gareth Eden-Styche said, “I think this will be the last Pitch2Punch I will organise. But we are looking at opportunities to continue in a new way, and open to anyone interested who wants to get in touch. Over 10 years we have run 8 events, celebrated over 150 industry champions, entertained over 4,000 guests, raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to support better mental health and helped to positively impact our industry.”

Eden-Styche added, “I’d like to thank every participant, every sponsor, every partner and every supporter for helping to shape Pitch2Punch, as well as our gym partner and trainers at 8Limbs and all those who work so hard on the night to make our event a success. Thank you all, for all your support.”
