Airlines In A Flap As Air NZ Claims Rival Emirates Pinched Its ‘Dave The Goose’ Campaign

Two of the world’s leading airlines are in a social media spat after claims one has plagiarised the other’s advertising campaign.

The Dubai-based Emirates has just released a new campaign starring a talking goose called Gerry who decides it’s far easier to catch an Emirates flight in comfort than bother with all that flying malarkey.

Problem is the spot’s almost identical to a campaign run by Air New Zealand back in 2016 that also featured a lazy goose, this time called Dave.

Air New Zealand has taken a jab at Emirates by posting a video on Twitter with Dave the goose congratulating his mate Gerry on choosing an easier way to travel.

However, Dave jests: “Only problem is, he got the wrong airline”.

It adds: “What are you doing on Emirates Gerry it was supposed to be Air New Zealand!”

Emirates soon hit back at Air NZ’s jibe, posting the reply below to its Twitter feed.

“Don’t wing it, Dave,” the spot declared. “You definitely want to fly with Emirates for the long haul. And Dubai is a sweet spot for migratory stops. See you here!”

For the record, both Emirates and Air NZ co-share on their respective airlines.
