“D, D & C!” Student Opens Exam Results Live On Breakfast TV & It Goes Horribly Wrong
It’s A-levels time in the UK, where high school leavers receive their results in the mail and, if all goes swimmingly, get their chosen university admission.
Clearly a tense time for many youngsters and, accordingly to breakfast TV producers, riveting content for their morning programs.
That was definitely the thinking when Good Morning Britain sent reporter Pip Thompson to Hull to interview students from Wilberforce Sixth Form College as they opened their envelopes.
Enter a young chap called Dylan who told the probing Thompson he was hoping for “a couple of Bs”.
And what better way to reveal to the entire nation that you probably didn’t study as much as you should, as the poor lad opened his envelope only for Thompson to reveal he’d received a “D, D, C”.
But every story has a silver lining, as Dylan later revealed he’d received an unconditional offer from his university of choice, so his public humiliation ultimately resulted to zero.

Social media soon chimed in on the incident.
“This is why I would never open my results on national television,” one Twitter user posted.
Another added: “Never has a DSQUARED tshirt been more appropriate.”
One person asked: “Nah but why are broadcasters still doing this in 2022? Where is this a public service?”
While another demanded that UK’s TV regulator, Ofcom, investigate: “There should be an Ofcom rule that no A Level student should ever be allowed to open their results on television.”
Thankfully, Dylan saw the funny side, later adding to the tweets: “Ahahahaha I’ve had an absolute nightmare.”
He then reminded everyone chiming in that he was, in fact, the first person in his family to complete his A-levels.
