Thursday TV Wrap: Footy Punts Seven To A Big Win

With a reduced NRL schedule this weekend, Seven took full advantage with its AFL coverage handing the network an impressive Thursday night win.

Led ably by its news coverage (which topped the night), Seven’s broadcast of the Melbourne-Brisbane game (the Demons winning 117-53) saw 409,000 viewers tune if for inter-capital slugfest according to OzTAM metro numbers.

Seven easily winning Thursday with 32.3 per cent of all of last night’s eyeballs (all channels). Nine had to settle for 23.3 per cent. 10 took bronze with 19.2 per cent. That left the ABC with 16.2 per cent and SBS with 9.2 per cent.

With Thursday always being one of the slower nights on TV, Seven’s 6pm news was the most watched show of the evening with 881,000 viewers.

Nine’s bulletin did 790,000 and ACA posted 502,000.

Best entertainment show of the evening was 10’s MasterChef. It cooked its way to 480,000.

In the battle of the game shows, Seven’s The Chase (491,000) out answered Nine’s Hot Seat (428,000).

Home And Away had a very off night, the Summer Bay cuties only rallying to 303,000.

MasterChef aside, 10’s only other notable was The Project with 343,000.

The ABC’s evening went this way: 7pm news (548,000), 7.30 (430,000) and Foreign Correspondent (330,000).
