Internet Explorer’s Long Journey Comes To An End After 27 Years
The world’s first-ever web browser, the Internet Explorer, is being terminated by founder company, Microsoft, today, 27 years since it first became active. The online community bid the meme-worthy web surfing program its proper farewells.
Microsoft has replaced IE with Edge for years now, however they were still providing their former browser with updates, with the latest one coming in 2013.
IE made its debut as the built-in web page explorer back in 1995 with the -appropriately titled- Windows 95.
Microsoft had slowly begun pulling the plug on Internet Explorer by ending support for their acclaimed web browser on a number of different platforms. As if that wasn’t enough to make their intentions clear, Internet Explorer has not been made available on Windows 11.
But today the US tech giant is making it official, as the application will no longer be available on PCs or any edition of Windows, essentially pulling the plug on it for good.

IE had grown to legendary status within the online community but not for any good reason, as its rather slow page loading process led to the creation of many memes that involved the original web browser.
Due to its popularity, the news of Microsoft ending its support struck some users with a sense of sadness, as it filled them with nostalgia from their younger years.
They paid tribute to Internet Explorer by posting content that felt appropriate for the occasion.
Microsoft users will hereby rely exclusively on Edge for all their web browsing activities.
