Independent media agency Half Dome today announced it has been named on the prestigious 2022 AFR BOSS Best Places to Work list, ranking at number four.

Half Dome has been recognised in the Media and Marketing category for its innovative workplace practices related to happiness, flexibility, learning, and wellbeing.

Published annually by The Australian Financial Review (AFR) and BOSS magazine, the awards are based on a rigorous assessment process managed by Australia’s leading behavioural science consultancy, Inventium, including a written submission and a staff survey examining policies, practices, and programs that help businesses support their team.

Half Dome has taken a proactive approach to employee wellbeing and training since its inception, establishing a strong workplace culture, based on positivity, co-creation, and personal development.

The agency’s commitment to creating a happy, healthy workplace has proved successful with employees, who rated their workplace happiness at an average of 8.4 out of 10 for the duration of 2021, naming initiatives like individual wellness budgets, extra leave for recharging, flexible hours, and mental health first aid training as first-rate.

Half Dome has also been recognised for its focus on developing agile, invested leaders, offering unique learning opportunities, as well as day-to-day feedback and growth within the team.

Half Dome head of people and culture, Lisa Lie, said: “Being placed on AFR BOSS Best Places to Work list is recognition we’re on the right track. We have an unwavering curiosity and willingness to keep pushing, experimenting, and finding new ways to create a happy, healthy, and high-performing culture.”

“I love that Half Dome is always willing to learn, take feedback in the team and actively involve them in co-creating the culture we all want.”

Half Dome managing partner and general manager, Tom Frazer, said: “We prioritise co-creation and experimentation as it relates to our culture, we know what motivates our people, and we focus on doing the best we possibly can to cultivate an environment that prioritises their motivation, happiness, and confidence, particularly around autonomy, learning and connection.

“We are constantly looking for new opportunities to evolve and innovate our approach to people, however this recognition is testament to the already great work and environment that forms the basis for our fast-growing business.

“Our intention is to maintain this philosophy and continue to focus heavily on the wellbeing of our team – an approach we know will set us apart in an industry well known for being overworked and burnt out.”

Inventium founder, Dr Amantha Imber, said: “Inventium is proud to announce the 2022 AFR BOSS Best Places to Work list in conjunction with The Australian Financial Review.”

“We have undertaken extensive research into what truly makes a brilliant workplace, and we are thrilled to recognise many organisations who are leading the way with innovative practices that drive key elements such as
    flexibility, wellbeing, and equality.”

Half Dome was also named as the overall winner of the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Australia awards in 2020.
