Melissa Doyle Returns To Seven After Feeling “Really Sad” When She Departed Two Years Ago

Journalist Melissa Doyle is returning to Network Seven less than two years after she left!

Doyle left Seven as the pandemic was in full swing, she famously departed from Seven after 25 years at the network and ended up working at rival Nine.

Now, the former Sunrise host is returning to her old stomping ground.

After she departed Sunrise, she stayed on at Seven and hosted several news shows, including Sunday Night.

She infamously departed shortly after she moved to Sunday Night and the rumour at the time was Doyle was moved to Sunday Nights to make room for Michael Usher to lead the news on Seven News.

At the time of her departure, Doyle told Stellar, “I wouldn’t say it came as a total shock, I just felt really sad. I let myself have one day when I wallowed on the couch and had a gin and tonic a little earlier than I should have.”

Then Doyle hosted Nine’s Australia Behind Bars, but now she is back! The Daily Telegraph has reported that Doyle is returning to Seven to host This Is Your Life.

Doyle told The Daily Telegraph, “I am honoured to continue the legacy of such an iconic program as This Is Your Life.

“I can’t wait to present the Big Red Book to some of our most loved Australians and together celebrate their remarkable lives and the people and moments which mean so much to them – and to all of us.”

Seven’s chief content officer of entertainment programming, Angus Ross, said: “This Is Your Life was an iconic and incredibly successful show for many years.

“We can’t wait to bring the format into 2022 and to welcome Mel Doyle back to Seven as its host. Mel is one of the best in the business. Intelligent, warm and engaging, she is the perfect person to present This Is Your Life and to celebrate the careers and achievements of some extraordinary Australians.”
