“They Are Lying To You!” A Russian News Employee Bravely Interrupts The News To Protest Against The War

A broadcast of Russian News was interrupted by an employee of the network, who ran into the shot holding a sign that read, “They are lying to you!”

It was an incredible act of bravery and defiance, Marina Ovsyannikova, held a sign up behind the newsreader that read, “No war. Stop the war. Don’t believe the propaganda. They’re lying to you here.”

She was also chanting the words, “Stop the war!”

The news anchor continued reading the news and seemed to speak louder likely in an attempt to drown out her coworker’s protest.

It was a brave and bold protest by Ovsyannikova, who works as an editor at Channel One.

The broadcast she interrupted is also a highly rated news broadcast which means her message could have potentially reached millions.

The Guardian has reported that she was arrested for her protest and is now facing charges and could potentially face prison time.

She could possibly be charged with trying to discredit the use of Russia’s armed forces but currently, no charges have been made public.

It also appears Ovsyannikova recorded a video before her protest, where she blames Putin for the war and apologises for working at Channel One.

The footage has since been going viral on social media and Ovsyannikova is being commended for her brave actions.
