Christmas Has “Always Been A Little Queer” Says This LGBTQI+ Ad With A Powerful Message

A new study by Canadian-based support group Eagle found that 60 per cent of LGBTQI+ people said they felt unsafe to be themselves over the Christmas period.

With these alarming stats in mind, Eagle has launched a new campaign with a theme that we probably all new anyway – that Christmas has always been a little bit queer.

Called “Give the gift of Belonging”, the 45-second ad is by Toronto-based creative agency TAXI and comes with the hashtag #AlwaysBeenQueer.

What starts out as good fun, the ad quickly delivers a poignant message: “Yet for many 2SLGBTQI people, it’s the toughest time of the year. This season, give the gift of belonging.”
