Melbourne-based independent creative agency, By All Means, has today released limited edition ‘Locktown’ t-shirts to create a positive, artistic commemoration of their city, while shining a spotlight on the significant impact of lockdown on the mental health of Victorians.

After 235 days under strict stay-at-home orders, Melbourne today claims the unenviable crown from Buenos Aires as the city to have endured the most number of days in hard lockdown.

This title accompanies grim mental health implications, with recent research conducted by the Australian Bureau of Statistics revealing that, in June 2021, more than a quarter (27 per cent) of Victorians experienced high or very high levels of psychological distress, almost 10 per cent higher than the national average (18 per cent). More so, Beyond Blue has reported a 20 to 30 per cent increase in demand for support of anxiety, depression, and family and relationship issues compared to pre-pandemic levels.

The t-shirts have been designed by one of Melbourne’s most beloved illustrators and artists, Oslo Davis.

Ed Howley, co-creative director at, By All Means, said: “Once crowned the world’s most liveable city, it’s devastating to see Melbourne take on the new title of having endured the most number of days in hard lockdown.

“However, rather than wallowing, this project aims to not only celebrate our amazing city but raise all-important funds to help alleviate the ongoing mental health crisis”.

Toby Cummings, co-creative director at, By All Means, said: “We have seen first-hand the impact these lockdown measures have had, and we’re keen to do our part to help Melbourne return to its vibrant, culture-filled self soon.

“It made complete sense for us to team up with Oslo, one of Melbourne’s artistic icons, to create a beautiful, fun and poignant commemoration of this inauspicious moment in Melbourne’s history”.

Profits from t-shirt sales will be donated to Beyond Blue to help fund mental health and wellbeing support services to improve the lives of individuals, families and communities affected by anxiety, depression and suicide.

The limited-edition t-shirts are available now for pre-order from locktown.com.au, for $45.
