Monday TV Wrap: The Masked Singer’s First Reveal Snares 760,000 Viewers While Seven Launches SAS Australia

10 has launched its first big entertainment offering of the week, The Masked Singer, with Making It to follow on Wednesday evening.

The Masked Singer: home to wild and wacky costumes and questionable singing saw an average audience of 642,000 viewers, with an average of 760,000 viewers for the first celebrity reveal. Drum roll please….it was Vinnie Jones!

Yes, acting star of X-MenShe’s The Man and Snatch, and football star for Chelsea and Leeds United.

He sang I’m Gonna Be by The Proclaimers dressed as a big volcano. Iconic!

Seven also launched SAS Australia, which had an average viewership of 647,000 viewers, putting it in the middle of The Masked Singer‘s reveal and the rest of the episode. The episode saw the competing celebrities get tear gassed (yes, you read that right! This is no mere Big Brother challenge!), strip to their undies, and also do some monkey bars.

The top performing entertainment of the night was Nine’s The Block, once again securing impressive numbers with a viewership of 864,000, as per OzTAM’s metro data.

Out on top overall was Seven News with 1,195,000 viewers, followed by Nine News with 1,041,000. A Current Affair had 800,000 viewers and ABC News had 774,000.

The rest of Seven’s night had Home and Away at 659,000 viewers and The Chase Australia at 598,000.

On 10, Have You Been Paying Attention? had 639,000 viewers, The Project had 519,000 and 10 News First had 372,000.

For the ABC, 7.30 had 636,000 viewers, Four Corners had 621,000, Australian Story had 608,000 and Media Watch had 496,000.

Finally, on Nine, Hot Seat had 470,000 viewers.

It was an incredibly close race for control of the daily share. Ultimately, the Seven Network came out on top with 27.3 per cent to the Nine Network’s 27.0 per cent. Network 10 had 21.1 per cent, the ABC TV Network had 17.4 per cent, and the SBS Network had 7.2 per cent.

Now looking to OzTAM’s Total TV Numbers, the top performing program for Monday 6th September was Seven News, with a total audience of 1,928,000 viewers (metro: 1,183,000, regional: 701,000, BVOD: 41,000).

Next was Nine News with 1,560,000 total viewers (metro: 1,121,000, regional: 397,000 and BVOD: 42,000) and in third was The Block with 1,433,000 total viewers (metro: 848,000, regional: 329,000 and BVOD: 190,000).

The program wth the highest lift on overnight was Nine’s Under Investigation at 25 per cent.
