ABC Reporter Goes Viral For Saying Victoria Will Be In Lockdown Until 2070

ABC reporter Ellen Fanning has gone viral after she accidentally said that victoria would be in lockdown until 2070.

In perhaps the most pandemic news ever, Ellen Fanning who hosts The Drum on The ABC made a slip up when she said: “Victoria’s lockdown will be extended until 2070.

“Sorry no it won’t, take the lead back to the beginning.”

Fanning then started the news story again and said: “Daniel Andrews has said that Victoria’s lockdown will be extended until 70 per cent of the state has had at least one dose of the COVID vaccine.”

However, the soundbite “Victoria’s lockdown will be extended until 2070,” is already being used on TikTok.

Arguably the mistake hit a nerve considering both Victoria and New South Wales are in extended lockdowns again.

The journalist later took to Twitter to poke fun at herself.

Thankfully, lockdown won’t be extended until 2070. Instead, Melbourne should come out of lockdown when the state hits a 70 per cent vaccination rate.
