Last night’s top-watched shows were again dominated by news and current affairs, though numbers were slightly down.

Seven News again took top spot, shrinking slightly from Tuesday to score 1, 181,000, as per OzTAM’s metro data. Nine News had 1,174,000, also slipping a little.

Next came ABC NewsA Current Affair and 7.30 with 768,000, 739,000 and 656,000 viewers respectively.

It was an incredibly tight competition between the two. Ultimately, MasterChef beat ANW by a hair’s breadth, with 616,000 viewers to 615,000 viewers.

Top of the entertainment lineup, though, was The Chase with 637,000 viewers, followed by Home and Away with 634,000 viewers.

The rest of Nine’s night saw Hot Seat score 561,000 viewers while Nine’s Afternoon News also crept onto the most watched list with 348,000.

For 10, The Project had 533,000 while 10 News First had 462,000 viewers.

Over at the ABC, Sean Micallef’s Mad As Hell had 497,000 viewers and Win The Week had 405,000.

On Seven, two repeats of Highway Patrol had 352,000 and 430,000 viewers.

Finally, SBS’s top performer was a repeat of Britain’s Cathedrals With Tony Robinson, which netted 163,000 viewers.

The night’s crown ultimately went to the Nine Network, which had 29.8 per cent of the daily share, followed by the Seven Network with 26.9 per cent.

In third was Network 10 with 19.2 per cent, followed by the ABC TV Network with 15.5 per cent and the SBS Network with 8.6 per cent.
