New York Times Style Mag, T Australia, Releases Second Edition Starring Aussie Actor Simon Baker
The New York Times Style Magazine has released its second print issue, featuring cover star Simon Baker, Australian actor and director.
Issue two of T Australia, themed ‘Modern Nostalgia’, includes features that have a delicious dichotomy of old, new and the in-between.
After a year like no other, T Australia is looking back to go forward, across food, identity, conservation, and design. The second issue of T Australia explores the tension and complexity of the recent past and present.
“As we navigate the ‘new normal’, I wondered if there is still comfort to be found in nostalgia. Or do the globetrotting, coronavirus-free freedoms of the past bring on unbearable yearning?” said the magazine’s publisher and editor-in-chief, Katarina Kroslakova.
In this issue of T Australia, cover star Simon Baker shares his two passions: surfing and filmmaking. He discussed the ‘Aussiewood’ phenomenon and why it has never been more important to support Australian talent.
Kroslakova said, “I like tension. I’m attracted to complexity. For that reason, the stories in the Modern Nostalgia issue have that contrast of moving forward and looking back. And there couldn’t be a better fit than our cover star, the actor, director and quintessential Aussie bloke Simon Baker”.
Baker is determined to make an impact on the local film scene – a scene that had little time for his younger self.
Other voices in the issue include Walkley Award-winning journalist Kate Hennessy, five grandmothers who defy the ageist connotations of being someone’s nan, The Veronicas on struggles with identity and Sydney artist Struthless.
T Australia aims to be a barometer of Australian culture.
It is one of several international editions of T: The New York Times Style Magazine and has been brought to Australian shores by Kroslakova.
“We had such a positive and warm response to Issue 1 and are continuing that momentum with our June release,” she said.
“The time following the launch of T Australia has been a whirlwind of growth and opportunity. We appreciate every ready, subscriber and message of support.”
Published quarterly, T Australia covers men’s and women’s culture, art, fashion, beauty, watches, jewellery, design, interiors, food, wine and travel.
