SBS has announced a special line-up of performers that will be joining Australia’s Biggest Singalong! for a night of entertainment like no other, broadcast live and exclusively on SBS, SBS On Demand and NITV on Saturday 5 June at 8.30pm AEST.

In front of a live crowd at Sydney’s Town Hall, the Pub Choir team led by choirmaster Astrid Jorgensen will teach Australia how to sing Hunters and Collectors iconic anthem ‘Throw Your Arms Around Me’.

Hosts Julia Zemiro and Miranda Tapsell will welcome singer-songwriter and Eurovision royalty Dami Im to the stage to perform Little River Band’s classic hit ‘Help Is On Its Way’ with the help of Auslan choir The Nepean CAPA Signing Choir.

First Nations entertainer Mitch Tambo will sing a powerful acoustic version of You’re The Voice in Gamilaraay language and country music legends Adam Eckersley and Brooke McClymont will also join live for a special performance of the John Williamson anthem ‘True Blue’ from Wang Wauk NSW.

Australia’s Biggest Singalong! is a celebration of the power of music and the broadcast will feature community choirs from around the country, reflecting on what singing means to them – be it connection to country, tackling mental health issues, homelessness or for the sheer joy of it.

The Gondwana Indigenous Children’s Choir will join live from Cairns with a mesmerising performance of ‘Birinyi’.

‘Birinyi’ is a new song based on the ancient story of Yurrbin – the creation of the Great Barrier Reef – as shared by Gimuy Walubara Yidinji elder, Gudju Gudju. Singer-songwriter Katie Noonan will lead the Sunshine Sounds Community Choir in a rendition of ‘Sounds of Then (This Is Australia)’ by Gang Gajang.

Dami Im said, “I’m so excited to join such a special event. It’s an honour to be singing ‘Help Is On It’s Way’, which takes on new depths of meaning after the year we’ve all had. I hope Australia’s Biggest Singalong! reminds people that singing is for everyone, no matter where you’re from or what ability you have.”

Mitch Tambo said, “I’m really looking forward to Australia’s Biggest Singalong! The highlight for me will be being backed by the S2S Squad youth choir on stage, to celebrate and honour my culture.”

“This is the most exciting part for me as I have massive passion for youth as they are our future leaders. I’m really thankful to SBS for their continued support of me and my journey and giving me a platform again to share my music.”

Adam Eckersley and Brooke McClymont said, “when we heard about Australia’s Biggest Singalong! we thought what a fantastic idea! Singing makes people happy, listening to people sing makes people happy, there should be more singing, particularly after the last couple of crazy years, the world can use any little bit of help to spread smiles.”

“We’re stoked to be part of this event and hopefully help bring a bit of laughter and joy through a good old singalong.”
