Tuesday TV Wrap: Powerful Britney Spears Doco Makes Australian Debut

Tuesday night saw Channel Nine’s exclusive premiere of Framing Britney Spears.

The new doco by the New York Times, originally released on US streaming platform Hulu, focused on the haranguing of the pop star by the paparazzi and media.

It also analysed the controversial conservatorship her father Jamie Spears has over Britney Spears’ person and estate, and the #FreeBritney movement begun by her fans.

The documentary was the tenth most-watched show of the night, with an audience of 484,000 according to OzTAM.

MAFS was the top-watched show again with 944,000 viewers, beating Seven News which had 918,000, and Nine News, which had 864, 000.

A Current Affair once again clinched the ABC’s journalism offerings, securing 704,000 viewers.

ABC News had 681,000 viewers while 7.30 snagged 578,000 for the national broadcaster.  Foreign Correspondent had 437,000 viewers while the scientific documentary series Catalyst rounded out the top twenty most-watched with 268,000 viewers.

For Seven, Home And Away just beat Framing Britney with 543,000 viewers, while The Chase had 458,000. The rest of Seven’s night saw The Good Doctor secure 327,000 viewers and Highway Patrol Special with 310,000.

10’s night saw The Amazing Race get 479,000 viewers. The Project and 10 News First had 431,000 and 305,000 respectively.

Finally for Nine, Hot Seat had 375,000 viewers.

Nine (all channels) won the night by ten per cent, securing thirty-three per cent of the daily audience share. Seven (all channels) had twenty-three per cent of the share, followed by Network 10 with seventeen per cent.

The ABC (all channels) had sixteen per cent, while SBS (all channels) had eight.
