Monday TV Watch: MAFS Returns To 964,000

Married At First Sight is once again putting smiles on Nine execs’ faces with a strong season opener last night.

Following disappointing tennis numbers for Nine over the previous two weeks, the much-hyped dating show fell just shy of the million-mark last night, posting 964,000 viewers according to OzTAM metro numbers.

MAFS‘ return was arguably bad news for 10’s Amazing Race, it dropped considerably to post 508,000.

Seven’s Holey Moley finale didn’t really move up or down, it did 491,000.

While 10’s Hughesy We Have A Problem is living up to its name, it managed a dire 219,000.

Nine won the night with 32.3 per cent audience share (all channels). Seven did 26.2 per cent, 10 hung on for third and 17.2 per cent, the ABC had 17.1 per cent and SBS managed 7.2 per cent.

In the battle of the news bulletins, Seven won with 948,000, Nine had 937,000, the ABC’s 7pm bulletin did 691,000 and 10 News First came last with 311,000.

ACA had 702,000 and 7.30 pulled 649,000.

In the battle of breakfast, Sunrise (265,000) toasted Today (186,000).

Other standouts for Seven included Home And Away (485,000), The Chase (461,000) and 9-1-1 (331,000).

Nine’s Hot Seat did 399,000 and Tipping Point did 201,000.

News aside, the ABC’s night went this way: Australian Story (557,000), Four Corners (442,000), Media Watch (419,000) and The Pacific In The Wake Of Captain Cook With Sam Neill (288,000).

SBS’ best was its World News with 190,000.
