Despite having never listened to the show, Kyle Sandilands believes 2Day FM’s new breakfast show, The Morning Crew with Hughesy, Ed and Erin, is doomed to fail.

A former 2Day FM anchor with long-time co-anchor Jackie ‘O’ Henderson, Sandilands on Friday said he didn’t need to listen to the show to “know it’s going to be a failure”.

Sandilands, 49, based his judgement on a problematic Today show interview, where hosts Dave ‘Hughesy’ Hughes, Ed Kavalee and Erin Molan spoke to the Nine breakfast show.

Due to a signal delay between Nine’s Sydney headquarters and 2Day FM’s studio in Melbourne, a few awkward on-air moments occurred—most notably Hughesy being asked his favourite thing about Sydney, despite being based in Melbourne.

After watching the interview, Sandilands said wouldn’t need to listen to an episode of The Morning Crew to know it was “a disaster”. He added that the trio “couldn’t communicate with each other” and described the Today interview as a “mess”.

“Instantly, without even hearing the show, I know it’s going to be a failure. Listen, I’m a radio expert,” Sandilands said, as Henderson interjected.

“No, come on. You’re not doing this,” she said, to which her Sandilands replied: “[It’s] an absolute disaster.”

Sandilands and Henderson parted with Southern Cross Austereo-owned 2Day FM in 2014, leaving for the KIIS network where they currently anchor.
