It’s Back! B&T’s Women Leading Tech To Return In 2021
Last year we decided it was time to shake it up with our awards. We saw the way in which technology was transforming the media and marketing industry and wanted to recognise the talented people driving this change.
We also wanted to highlight that technology remains a heavily male-dominated industry. According to the European Commission’s Women in Digital Scoreboard from 2019, only 17 per cent of ICT specialists are women, while women in ICT earn 19 per cent less than men on average.
So we decided to launch our inaugural Women Leading Tech awards.
As we now know, COVID-19 had other plans, so we were forced to delay the awards and move them online. Despite the disruption, we still received great feedback and we were honoured to showcase just some of the female technology talent that exists in our industry.
In 2021, we’re back with a hybrid event, taking place at Doltone House, Jones Bay Wharf on Tuesday 20 April.
Entries will close at 5pm on Monday 1 March, while late entries close at 5pm on Monday 8 March.
We will be releasing our shortlist on Thursday 1 April.
Early bird tickets end on Thursday 8 April.
Like last year, we’ll be handing out awards for Advocacy, Data Science, Design, Engineering, Entrepreneur/Founder, Executive Leader, Marketing, Mentor, Product and Sales.
We also have a couple of new categories in 2021, to recognise those who are working to build our female technology capabilities at the educational level
The new Education Provider category is open to any tertiary education provider which offers STEM based degrees/courses, and has demonstrated a holistic and long-term commitment to the recruitment and retention of female students.
Meanwhile, the Education/Research category is open to women who are currently in roles such as lecturing, researching or teaching within a technology discipline at either high school, tertiary or post graduate levels.
You can find all of the 2021 winners here.
We’d also like to give a massive thank you to all of our sponsors who have come on board in support of Women Leading Tech again in 2021.
