“Mystery, Suspense & Fowl Play!” Oddball KFC Film Plays Like A Bad Episode Of ‘Bold & The Beautiful’

KFC loves giving its legendary founder, Colonel Harland David Sanders (who, admittedly, died 40 years ago), a makeover and its latest attempt could possibly be one of the oddest yet.

The work of fabled agency Wieden+Kennedy Portland, the ad comes as a 15-minute film that runs like a bad midday movie or C-grade soap.

Called A Recipe for Seduction, it stars Saved By The Bell’s Mario Lopez as the Lothario Colonel in a drama the fast food chain is describing as tale of “mystery, suspense, deception, ‘fowl’ play and – at the heart of it all – love and fried chicken.”

Check out the trailer to the film below:

The film is set to run on the cable network Lifetime, on its apps and other VOD platforms.

Commenting on the project, KFC US CMO Andrea Zahumensky, said: “Let’s face it, we could all use a little distraction this holiday season, so why not fill some of your time at home with a suspenseful drama and the comfort of our world-famous fried chicken?” A Recipe for Seduction is a perfect excuse to curl up at home and escape to your own happily ever after.”

To coincide with the film’s launch, KFC is also selling an 11 Herbs and Spices Firelog and vintage-inspired holiday buckets, and is offering an Uber Eats special promotion- six free crispy tenders with an order of $US20 or more for delivery from December 13-19.
