Bryce Mills & Ebony Boadu Will Take Over triple J Breakfast In January

triple j has announced that Bryce Mills and Ebony Boadu will take over triple j Breakfast in January 2021.

Hailing from Moranbah via Woy Woy, 26-year-old Bryce Mills got his start in community radio, presenting on 2SER, before absolutely sweating triple j management to give him a job. Mills jumped at the chance to helm the triple j front desk in 2018, answering phones and stuffing marketing material into Unearthed High and Hottest 100 envelopes, unbeknownst to everyone that within two years Bryce would be triple j’s go-to presenter, regularly filling in on peak triple j shows like Breakfast, Drive, Mornings and Lunch, while also hosting triple j Weekend Arvos in 2020.

In addition to radio, you can also catch Mills on his weekly podcast God Is Dead, which unpacks the worst offerings from the internet and pop culture, Channel Ten’s ‘Unpacked’ series, roasting episodes of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, or via his own social media docu-reality satire videos which have amassed over a million views. As a comedian, he’s sold out multiple shows at the Sydney Comedy and Sydney Fringe Festival, as well as appeared at events like Secret Garden Festival.

Co-hosting triple j Brekkie is 25-year-old hip hop and dance aficionado Ebony Boadu. Born and bred in Western Sydney, Ebony’s obsession with music led her to hosting spots on FBi, SBS and MTV, before joining triple j in 2019 to sound track your Saturday nights on triple j’s House Party. In that time, Ebony’s fast growing popularity also saw her pick up peak fill in shifts on triple j Breakfast, Drive, Good Nightsand the Hip Hop Show.

Boadu is also an accomplished DJ, having played sets at all major festivals, like Splendour In The Grass and Falls Festival, as well as supporting the likes of Stormzy and Leikeli47, in addition to her own headline tours. She’s a renowned tastemaker, deeply plugged into the global music scene, and her exuberant energy translates both in her sets and through the mic.

Together Bryce & Ebony have become firm favourites with the triple j audience, having regularly filled in on triple j Brekkie and Drive together in 2020. Their unique sense of humour and ability to relate to young people has produced some spectacular and ridiculous content, like the time they held triple j Mornings presenter Lucy Smith hostage for three hours, re-branded the triple j station IDs, reenacted a dramatic scene from The Notebook and dropped a Dr Karl sample into a DJ mix. It’s A LOT and we can’t wait for more in 2021.

Mills commented: “I was in high school when I decided that I wanted to one day host triple j Breakfast. It was pretty arrogant of me to make that declaration during Maths class with absolutely no idea how I’d get to triple j, but here we are! I can’t tell you how proud and excited I am to start this new role and get to know triple j listeners on an even deeper level.”

Boadu added, “Over the past two years I’ve had the most incredible time spending my Saturday nights DJing and partying with people all over the country! I’ve been so humbled and grateful for that opportunity alone, but to now be able to wake up with triple j listeners and hang out every single day in my dream workplace is still something I’m trying to fully process. I’m so stoked to have the opportunity to share my favourite new songs, talk to artists that I admire and make 1000s of new friends every morning!”

Tune in to Bryce & Ebony from 6 – 9am every weekday on triple j from January 2021.

Until then, Bryce will host triple j Brekkie for the remainder of the year, while new presenters for House Party and Weekend Arvos will be announced in early 2021. Beyond that, there are no other major triple j programming changes.
