Plants Pantsed! Burger King Unveils $18 Bun-Less Burger Containing Half-A-Kilo Of Meat

Over the past 12 months the fast food chains have largely fallen over themselves to be the first to develop plant-based options, often so authentic that regular burger munchers couldn’t tell the difference.

So, news over the weekend that Burger King in Japan has unveiled a bun-free, four patty burger certainly goes against the current veggie-inspired zeitgeist.

Called the Extreme Super One Pound Beef Burger, the meaty beast has lettuce, cheese, gherkins and is sandwiched between four beef patties weighing-in at a cool half-a-kilo.

The carnivorous treat costs 1400 yen ($A18.40) which makes it four times the cost of a normal Whopper at a Japanese Burger King.

The limited-edition burger is only available until December 3 and diners who can manage to digest one get a celebratory sticker to honour their stomach’s achievement.
