New Twitter Product Mocked For Sharing The Name Of A Laxative Enema Brand

Twitter has launched ‘Fleets’, a new feature which allows users to share disappearing tweets.

The concept of disappearing concept on social media was first popularised on social media by Snapchat, and since then we have seen Instagram, Facebook and YouTube all follow suit.

Given the fast-paced nature of the Twitter feed, it has been slightly more challenging for the social media company to launch Fleets.

Twitter has tested the new product in Brazil, Italy, India and South Korea and say they believe Fleets help people feel more comfortable in a conversation. The tests also show people are more comfortable sharing personal and casual thoughts via Fleets.

The new product has already seen celebs such as Nick Jonas, 2 Chainz, Ricky Martin, RuPaul’s Drag Race and the Foo Fighters share jump on board.

While the overall success of the product remains to be seen, Twitter users have been quick to point out the rather unfortunate name of the new product.

As well as now being the name of this new Twitter feature, ‘Fleet’ is also the name of a well-known laxative enema brand.

Fleet sells a range of products, including laxatives, suppositories and its flagship product, the Fleet Enema, which “provides reliable relief from occasional constipation without pain or spasm.”

Twitter users have of course been quick to point out this namesake.
