“Juvenile, Idiotic, Schoolboy, Lavatorial!” The Reason Why Mindshare’s Global CEO Nick Emery Was Sacked Revealed

The reason for Mindshare’s global CEO, Nick Emery’s shock sacking has been revealed.

As reported on B&T last Thursday, Emery was immediately terminated from his role following, what WPP described as, “a clear breach of the company’s code of conduct”.

And now UK media site Campaign has revealed the reason behind Emery’s shock dismissal.

Apparently, it was an internal video call to colleagues that backfired.

Although exact details of the “prank” call are unclear, insiders who witnessed it has called it “juvenile”, “idiotic”, “schoolboy” and “lavatorial”.

Following complaints, WPP launched an immediate investigation and Emery was abruptly shown the door.

Emery founded Mindshare in 1997 and became CEO in 2012. He has not publicly commented on his departure.

Until a replacement is found, GroupM CEO Christian Juhl has taken on the role of interim CEO at the agency.

Juhl said in a statement that GroupM and its agencies “believe everyone should experience an inclusive and respectful workplace culture”.

He added: “Inappropriate and offensive behaviour is not tolerated in our company, and when we see any employee breach our code of conduct, we take swift action.

“Mindshare is made up of thousands of dedicated professionals who deliver our promise of making advertising work better for people around the world. We know they share our vision and values and are focused on the future of the business and the needs of their clients,” Juhl said.
