The Monkeys Wins Supercheap Auto Creative Account & Unveil Hilarious Bathurst 1000 ‘Cheating Scandal’ Spoof Campaign

The Monkeys Wins Supercheap Auto Creative Account & Unveil Hilarious Bathurst 1000 ‘Cheating Scandal’ Spoof Campaign

Supercheap Auto has unveiled its latest campaign via The Monkeys, addressing the Bathurst 1000 ‘cheating scandal’ in a hilarious tongue-in-cheek press conference.

It is The Monkeys first piece of creative work for the brand since recently landing the creative account, B&T can confirm.

The ‘cheating scandal’ the brand is referring to is Bathurst 1000 selecting a new headline sponsor for the event as of 2021.

This year’s Bathurst 1000 will be Supercheap Auto’s last as headline sponsor of the iconic event, a title they’ve held for 16 years.

Uploading the 6 minute spot to YouTube, the brand said this of the campaign: “Breaking news: We’re breaking our silence on the Bathurst 1000 cheating scandal. By ‘cheating scandal’ we mean Bathurst leaving us for another sponsor…”

Organisers of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship confirmed in August the Bathurst 1000 will have a new naming rights sponsor from 2021.

Repco signed a five-year deal with Supercars to be the title sponsor beginning next year up until at least 2025.

The signing of Repco as the naming rights sponsor ends a 16-year run for Supercheap Auto, who unveiled this campaign as what can only be described as a fitting last hurrah.
