Apples Confirms New Update Is Chewing Through Your iPhone Battery

A woman is holding a mobile phone in her hands. On the device screen of the smart phone visible is an empty battery. The photo was taken over the model's shoulder. I have created the battery icon in adobe illustrator myself. It is intended to look like a generic battery icon.

As is often the case when it comes to software updates, iPhone users have been reporting decreased battery life after installing the new iOS 14 update.

The update has included a raft of big changes, including notifications that tell you when an app is using your camera or microphone and new ways to organise apps on the Home Screens.

But these new features come with a cost.

On Twitter, one user reported their battery dropping from 90 per cent to three per cent in just one hour after updating to iOS 14.

Other users have had similar complaints.

In a blog post, Apple confirmed its users’ suspicions about reduced battery life and iOS 14.

“After updating to iOS 14.0 and watchOS 7.0, you might notice… Increased battery drain on your iPhone or Apple Watch.”

Apple also revealed there could be issues with the Health app and GPS-enabled workouts stemming from the update.

However, there is a solution to resolve these battery problems.

According to Apple, if a user is experiencing multiple issues they should unpair their watch and phone, back them up, wipe them and then restore them from backup.
