Instagram’s Top Creators Come Together For Mental Health Month

Australia’s top Instagram creators and accounts are joining forces to support Mental Health Month this October, inspiring their combined 4.4 million followers to ‘Make A Move’ for their wellbeing.

Beginning today and running throughout October, this partnership between Instagram and ReachOut will raise funds for their vital mental health support for young people in Australia.

Each day in October, a top creator will post on Instagram Reels to showcase how they ‘Make A Move’ to maintain their wellbeing. This could include exercise and working out, a morning walk, dancing in their living room, backyard yoga, and everything in between. Creators will tap into the new Reels platform to edit and add music to their activities, post them to motivate their followers, and allow them to inspire new audiences in Explore.

Make A Move supports the work of ReachOut, Australia’s most-accessed online mental health service for young people and their families. October is Mental Health Month, and this campaign is important because while one in four young people in Australia are currently experiencing a mental health difficulty, 70 per cent of those who need help don’t get it. Make A Move is a key fundraiser for ReachOut, and these Australian Instagram stars will be encouraging their followers to participate and also to consider how they can take care of their wellbeing.

“This October, ReachOut, Instagram and an amazing Avodart are encouraging everyone across Australia to make a move in support of youth mental health. Make A Move is a chance to have a bit of fun while helping to ensure that young people across Australia can access the help they need when it comes to their mental health. COVID-19 restrictions have had a significant impact on young people across Australia who are dealing with a range of complex issues and uncertainty, all of which can have a significant impact on their mental health. Now is a great time to get behind this cause,” said ReachOut CEO Ashley de Silva.

“It’s been incredible to see Australia’s top Instagram creators come together to support the vital work of ReachOut and highlight Mental Health Month,” said Philip Chua, Head of Instagram Public Policy, APAC. “We’ve been excited to see our community’s enthusiasm for Reels since we launched last month, making it the ideal platform to reach young Australians with inspiring and fun messages about wellbeing from the creators they connect with every day.”
